AldaGlobal came to us in 2012 with a clear brief: build a hotel booking system that works equally well in English and Russian, manages its own room contingents, and plugs into a large wholesale supplier on top of that. The classic travel-agency workflow — request, approve, book — had to run without friction for guests on the front-end and for AldaGlobal staff on the back-end.
- Bilingual front-end in English and Russian, tuned to how each audience searches and books
- In-house online contingent management, with bookings confirmed the moment AldaGlobal staff approve a request
- Hotel search built on top of the managed contingents, backed by a cache layer for fast result lists
- Integration with Goglobal's global hotel inventory via XML, combining own stock with wholesale supply
- Rich-internet experience on the admin side using Backbase; on the user side built with jQuery
- Clean architecture in PHP on the Zend Framework, MVC, test-driven development and continuous integration
The result was a tourism tool that put AldaGlobal's own room stock and an external wholesale catalogue under one search — usable in two languages, with a guided approval workflow for booking requests baked in. Designed and built end-to-end with rockit, from concept and UI through to back-end logic.
