BOKU — the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna — is Austria's central institution for the life sciences, covering everything from agriculture, forestry and biotechnology to water and environmental research. For a scientific congress hosted at BOKU, the organisers needed a take-home companion medium that would carry the programme, abstracts and research highlights beyond the printed booklet, at a time when streaming platforms and conference apps were not yet on the table.
- Interactive multimedia CD-ROM produced as the official companion medium for congress attendees
- Visual design by Susanne Auer, multimedia authoring and technical implementation by our team
- Programme, session abstracts and institutional information from BOKU prepared for self-paced navigation on a desktop computer
- Structured content with clean navigation between sessions, speakers and research topics
- Production included pressing and duplication of the final CD run for distribution on site
- Delivered as a self-contained offline package — independent of conference Wi-Fi or any internet connection
With rockit, BOKU put a congress companion in the hands of every attendee — a piece of stakeholder communication that kept the event's content alive long after the closing session. The project belongs to an era when universities and public-sector institutions still distributed rich multimedia content on physical media, one generation before today's conference platforms for researchers, students and external partners.
