Café YLK – Simits was a Turkish bakery and coffee house on Währinger Straße in Vienna, a short walk from the Votivkirche, Schottentor and the University of Vienna. The menu revolved around freshly stone-oven-baked simits — the sesame rings once eaten by Ottoman sultans — alongside Belgian-style waffles, an array of wraps, chocolate fondue and a catering service that liked to do things a little differently. The website had to mirror that range and pull students, civil servants and curious tourists in from the surrounding district.

For a small neighbourhood café, a website is rarely just decoration: it had to show regulars the weekly menu, guide visitors into the right side street and bring in catering bookings at the same time. The TYPO3 site built with rockit tied the menu, the location and the story of Café YLK – Simits together under one Viennese address — a digital business card that matched the room it represented.
