FABbiogas

For EU research project FABbiogas, rockit built a multilingual TYPO3 platform connecting six countries around food and beverage biogas research.

back to overview

Food and beverage production generates vast amounts of organic waste — and most of it never gets near a biogas plant. FABbiogas set out to change that. Funded under the European Commission's Intelligent Energy – Europe programme, this research project ran from 2013 to 2015, bringing together nine partners from Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy and Poland. Coordinated by the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU), the consortium combined research institutions, national food industry federations and biogas specialists.

  • Multilingual information platform at fabbiogas.eu as the central knowledge hub for industry stakeholders and policymakers across six countries
  • National contact points established within food industry associations in each partner country, putting knowledge directly into the hands of sector practitioners
  • Assessment of biogas potentials from food and beverage industry waste streams across partner regions
  • Online FABbiogas Calculator tool for estimating the feasibility and energy efficiency of biogas integration projects
  • Awareness events and stakeholder campaigns throughout the value chain
  • Practical guidelines and dissemination tools to bridge the gap between research and industry adoption
  • Partnership with the European Biogas Association as a key consortium member

The platform built with rockit gave FABbiogas a digital home that matched the project's European scope — a multilingual TYPO3 website designed to carry research findings straight to the decision-makers who could act on them.
