If you make a living from your own pictures, you want a website that does not compete with the work. Marcus Werres operates in Vienna at the intersection of photography and communication design, and back in 2012 he needed an online presence that placed those two strands calmly side by side, without drowning the images in a busy frontend. Just as important: new projects had to be easy to add without calling the agency every time.
- Lean, image-led layout with a clear split between photography and communication design
- Concept and design developed together with our long-time design partner
- TYPO3 powering the back end, set up for self-service editing by the client
- Maintainable portfolio: new series and projects slot into the right section without any code changes
- Structured image management through the TYPO3 backend instead of a fiddly FTP workflow
- Pared-back navigation so the first impression stays with the photographs, not the menu
- Low-maintenance setup designed to keep running for years without heavy intervention
What Marcus Werres got was a stage that lets the work speak rather than commenting on it — paired with a backend where he can keep his projects up to date himself. Built by rockit together with the design partner, the TYPO3 site has been live since 2012 and shows that a deliberately quiet presence can stay viable for photographers over the long haul.
